Dear Woodinville Neighbors,
Happy New Year! This year marks the 9th year of CNW’s ongoing pursuit to protect our R-1 neighborhoods from over-development. With your support via email, attending meetings, public speaking, financial assistance and overall advocacy for the wooded R-1 areas of greater Woodinville, we have helped maintain peaceful safe neighborhoods for our kids to play, for us to walk, jog and run, and for wildlife to nest and be part of our community. We plan to continue to be vigilant in 2013 and wanted to provide a brief update on a couple items of interest. We thank YOU for continuing to be engaged, to talk to your neighbors and to protect our neighborhoods!
Following the Woodinville City Council’s approval of Ordinance 532 (which establishes minimum lot sizes throughout the city), the developer of Wood Trails filed an appeal with the Growth Management Board (GMA) appealing Ordinance 532. The City Council responded and voted to allocate funds to pay their land use attorney to defend this appeal to GMA. The City and Wood Trails have been required to first mediate the situation and CNW has formally joined the mediation. CNW is incurring legal fees to engage in mitigating a solution which protects the Wood Trails area from sewer and over-development. We need funds to support this effort.
Neighbors to Save Wellington Park (NSWP) It is not a done deal! Snohomish County Parks is having another meeting at Brightwater. NSWP encourages everyone to attend as community interest will help preserve the Park’s open spaces. Citizens can impact how the Park is developed and how quickly it is developed, including potentially opening it back up as a golf course. More information is available at the Neighbors to Save Wellington website. NSWP encourages you to provide input on the current proposal, so they can represent the interests of our community. Right now, our desire is to keep everyone informed so you then can choose whether you want to support the efforts of Neighbors To Save Wellington Park.
